KVKK

Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, which governs how personal data is processed.

KVKK sets out the purposes, legal grounds and retention periods for processing personal data in Turkey. Data controllers must inform the people whose data they process, keep it secure, and obtain explicit consent except where the law provides another basis.

It is enforced by the Personal Data Protection Authority. It is often compared with GDPR, though the two differ in detail. This is general information; take legal advice on your own processes.

Why it matters for agencies

Agencies collect names, phone numbers, addresses and budgets every day. Recording calls and using a CRM both require an appropriate privacy notice.

Example

An agency prepares a privacy notice explaining that calls are recorded for quality and service purposes, and publishes it on its website and lead forms.
