Title deed (tapu)

The official record showing who owns a property and the rights attached to it.

A title deed records who owns a property, what it is, and any mortgages, annotations or easements attached to it. In Turkey, the title is called tapu and is kept by the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre; owners can also view their records via e-Devlet.

The type of title, such as full condominium ownership, floor easement, shared title or land title, affects how a property can be sold, financed and valued. This is general information; get professional advice for specific transactions.

Why it matters for agencies

Title is one of the first things buyers ask about, especially international buyers in Turkey. Handling the question properly builds trust.

Example

A caller asks whether a flat has full condominium title. If the detail is in the listing data, the assistant shares it; if not, it says the agent will confirm and logs the question in the CRM.
